National Junior Honor Society

Membership is both an honor and a responsibility. It recognizes your service, citizenship, leadership, and character in addition to your academic excellence. Members are required to maintain an “A” average in their core classes each semester, complete 16 service hours, and maintain the highest standards of conduct. You are looked upon as student leaders by school staff and your peers.

NJHS is a student-run organization. Mandatory meetings are held bi-monthly on a day determined by a majority vote of all members. Officers will be elected by the NJHS members shortly after school begins.      Members will help with projects sponsored by the organization. We will have a major fundraiser this fall, sponsor a family for the Christmas tree, and participate in the “Pennies for Patients” cancer drive. This drive benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

NJHS members with an overall average of “92” are eligible to apply in April for membership. The form is lengthy and requires a signature from three middle school teachers, student and parent. Once becoming approved to be a member, each student will be inducted into the honor society during a ceremony in May.
