HMS Art I & Journalism

Hi Falcons!
Welcome back to another great year at HMS!  This year is going to be our best year yet.  I cannot wait to see what you all create in my art and journalism classes.
You can reach me through email at or by phone call at 281-324-2598.  The most efficient form of communication is through email.
About Me
My name is Savannah Lothringer and I am an Art I teacher at HMS.  This is my second year teaching and I couldn't think of a better school to be at than HMS!  I am excited to share my passions of Art with all of you.
I graduated from the University of Houston with my B.A. (Go Coogs)!  My husband and I have an amazing son who is a student in Huffman and proud Falcon!
We have two dogs Achilles & Mia - who keep us busy chasing squirrels and deer in our backyard!  In our spare time, we love to play and watch baseball (Go Astros)!  We also love going out on our boat, traveling, going to the movies, & trying new restaurants.  One of the coolest experiences I have had is swim with sharks - yes sharks!
My goal for students:  In my classroom, I cannot wait to inspire students to push their creativity to a new level, explore, experiment, and discover new things about themselves and about art!

Cell Phone Policy
At HMS we use a red light, yellow light, and green light visual system. I will let you know what color we are on.
Red Light: Phone should be in your backpack, not visible, & not taken out / This is during instructional time and if we are working with art
materials that could ruin your phone.
Yellow Light: You may have your phone face down on your desk - listening to music / This is during project time
Green Light: You may have your phone out / This is during different times - if your class has earned free time.
First offense with not following the light color will receive a verbal warning.
The second offense will lose cell phone privileges for a week and students will be asked to turn in their cell phones when they arrive to class each day.  They will receive their phone back at the end of our class period.
The third offense student’s phone will be taken to the office and they will have it returned at the
end of the day.
